“Punning is a talent which no man affects to despise but he that is without it.” – Jonathan Swift
“Puns are the highest form of literature.” – Alfred Hitchcock

My favorite pun of all time is:
I say it all of the time. Most of my kids do not appreciate my sense of humor. But there is one that you can tell is filing my jokes away to use at a later date.
My son has a unique sense of humor that sometimes makes me stop and wonder what I have been teaching him, and sometimes makes me pat myself on the back. The majority of the time he is a quiet kid that has people wondering if he is even paying attention to what is happening around him. But when he decides to open his mouth and say something it is always deliberate and usually funny.
Right now he is into puns and he usually leave me thinking that he really is paying attention to what is happening. Here are a few of the things that I have heard the past month that either had me groaning, laughing, or left me in awe wondering exactly how his mind makes connections.
And now you know why I am always asking myself, When’s My Vacation?
Well obviously I am a day late for this but I am still going to participate. I hate being late.
I had a plan to write about the sudden burst of warm weather and all that comes with it (pool time, tans, happy playing children) but now my mind is suddenly flooded with all of these late quotes:
In reality I HATE being late. I am the person who is 30 minutes early sitting in my car waiting for an event to start because I stress myself out about being late. I can’t be late. I would rater skip an event or dinner if I am going to be late then walk in after everyone else has assembled. The stress and pressure that I put on myself to be on time borders on insanity.
I have always been this way. I don’t know when or why it started. Maybe because I grew up in a military family with a father that was in the Army, so he was required to be on time all of the time. Maybe it is my personality (if you know me you know this is the major reason). Maybe it is because I am a rule follower and so when someone says, “You need to be here at 8.” I am always going to listen and get there by 8.
I guess it doesn’t really matter why I need to be on time (early), I just do. And heaven help you if I am waiting on you. If you are late I will always be polite but just know that inside I am probably freaking out, and calling you all kinds of really not nice things. Sorry!

Can I just talk about Grey’s Anatomy for 5 minutes?
When asked about his death on the show despite the fact that he just signed a 2 year contract at the beginning of this year Patrick Dempsey replied:
“Yes. You’re right. (Pause) It just sort of evolved. It’s just kind of happened. It really was something that was kind of surprising that unfolded and uh, and it just naturally came to be, which was pretty good. I like the way it has all played out.”
I don’t care about the drama behind the scenes or the “diva” attitude or any other rumors about the show. I will say this:
Shonda, you had me all the way to the end of Private Practice. You have my full attention for How To Get Away With Murder. Even Scandal with its crazy plot twists and holes this season still has me glued to the set (as long as you don’t kill off my favorite – Scott Foley). But with this twist on Grey’s I might actually have to walk away from a show that I have been watching for 10 years. Maybe it is just time to say goodbye.

*I apologize for this ridiculous post about a show that has no merit on real life especially with so many real tragedies going on in the world.
